Ara Taiohi is the peak body for youth development in Aotearoa, New Zealand. We are a national membership-based organisation with over 1,000 personal and organisational members representing a diverse range of groups.
Te Puawaitanga Taiohi o Aotearoa: Our vision is that young people flourish in Aotearoa; we work alongside our members to support this aspiration.
Ara Taiohi manages many projects across the youth development sector including: Youth Week (the annual festival of youth led events), Korowai Tupu (the Professional Association of Youth Workers), Takiwā (our unique data visualisation tool) and is a collaborative partner of Involve (the national youth development conference in Aotearoa).
Our organisation is governed by a Board of Trustees elected by our members at our annual general meeting with the exception of Te Kaihautū who is appointed by Ngā Kaihoe (Māori Caucus). The Board is advised and supported by our Kaumātua (who is is an adviser to the board, not a board member) and our various rōpū.
Jane Zintl, Brenda Crooks, Shannan Wong, Kirsten Le Harivel, Nat Sargent, Jack Trolove and Dayna Carter make up the Ara Taiohi team.
