Ara Taiohi news

Ara Taiohi in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development, the Vodafone Foundation, and supported by the JR McKenzie Trust, are pleased to release the Youth Development Ecosystem Report completed by the Centre for Social Impact.

This report alongside ActionStation’s Ngā Korero Hauora o Ngā Taiohi, completes the first stage in the review of the Youth Development Strategy of Aotearoa (YDSA).

This Evidence Review confirms the existing 6 principles of the YDSA are sound, but need to be updated to reflect the reality of young people and youth development in 2018, as well as Aotearoa’s rich cultural heritage.

Our next steps are to:

  • complete an Aotearoa based literature review
  • hold 9 regional hui across the motu
  • ensure Te Ao Māori engagement is woven through all the next stages
  • have ongoing conversations with young people
  • publish an online survey.

Our aim is to synthesise all information that is gathered and to have a new look YDSA in the middle of 2019!

Our first regional hui is on Wednesday 21 November in Wellington. If you are interested in attending please contact us.

The remaining regional hui will be in February and March of 2019.
