MYD F2019/20 Funding Open Tender Process
In 2018, the Ministry of Youth Development (MYD) – Te Manatū Whakahiato Taiohi – reviewed its funding priorities. They did this to ensure MYD is working to support the Government’s focus on wellbeing and to bring a strengths-based focus on equity to this mahi.National OpportunitiesOpportunities for youth
Young people are an important part of our society and contribute to it in a substantial way. However, they know that some rangatahi don’t have equal opportunities to fulfil their potential and actively participate in their communities. MYD want to level the playing field so that all young people are empowered to live the kinds of lives they value. They will be bringing a particular focus to supporting rangatahi Māori, Pacific young people, Rainbow young people, young people with disabilities, young women, young people living in the regions, and young people from ethnic communities, in particular those from a refugee and migrant background.
In 2019, MYD will be opening two funding streams: Youth Development and Youth Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. Applicants can submit applications to both funding streams (one application only per stream) and can apply for funding for up to three years.
The Youth Development funding stream supports the wellbeing of young people (aged 12 to 24 years) via a youth development approach. This is funding for holistic programmes and services that emphasise identity, belonging, connectedness and the strengths of young people. There is approximately $3 million available in this stream in 2019/2020. Some important dates to note are:
- Applications open: midday, 28 January 2019
- Applications close: midday, 22 February 2019
- Applicants will know the outcome of the process by the end of April, for contracts starting 1 July 2019.
The Youth Enterprise and Entrepreneurship funding stream supports young people’s enterprise and entrepreneurship initiatives, and the delivery of strengths-based business, enterprise, information and digital technology education and skills development, that help prepare young people (aged 12 to 24 years) for the future work environment. There is approximately $800,000 available in this stream in 2019/2020. Some important dates to note are:
