Korowai Tupu Whakapapa

Youth work in Aotearoa has a rich history, reaching beyond European settlement.  In the work to develop a professional association Ara Taiohi and the P2P have been intensely aware of all the work that came before - setting the foundations we are building on.  One of the first tasks undertaken by the P2P was to map the history of youth work professionalisation.  A summary such as this can never be fully complete and will always need to be a living document.  This is supported by the Ethical Practice in Traditions of Youth Development in Aotearoa article found on page 10 of the Code of Ethics which looks a pre European settlement traditions of Māori youth development practice.
