Mahi Tūturu is a nationwide research initiative by Ara Taiohi and AUT exploring the state of Youth Work in Aotearoa. This research was undertaken in 2024-25 and released at the INVOLVE Conference in August 2025
 
The report examines four guiding questions:
1. Who is doing Youth Work in NZ, and what do they do?
2. What are the work conditions of youth workers?
3. What is the nature of training and support for youth workers?
4. What resourcing is needed in the sector to recruit, retain and train youth workers?
