Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa

I am originally from the UK and qualified as a Social Worker in 2002. My specialist area is mental health and youth. I came to Aotearoa in 2009 and primarily worked in mental health services.

For the past five years I have worked as a Social Work Practice Leader in a Youth Development Unit having oversight of the professional/ clinical practice of Social Workers, Support Workers and other staff members delivering services to young people. I also spent time 'on the floor' to maintain practice skills and get a sense of the challenges being faced by frontline workers. I developed clinical governance for the Social Workers, wrote policy and processes and delivered training. I have experience running supervision and reflective practice groups.

My Approach

I specialise in personality disorders, challenging behaviour, trauma, stress management, and boundary issues within practice. I am passionate about the the constant professional development required to be our best selves. My approach is strengths based, tackling inequity with a systems perspective, and a culturally appropriate lense. I recognise the risk of burnout and vicarious trauma through the accumulative effect of long term exposure to other people's difficulties and aim to support you to practice sustainably.

My commitment to you: - Support to process and reflect on practice issues - Reflection and offloading about issues in your work environment - Breaking down communication barriers - Coaching - A listening space - Problem solving - Working with cultural difference - Professional development - Working with unconscious bias and conflicted values - Professionalism

My availability: - I am available to a range of health and social care practitioners’, statutory, health care, NGOs, youth services and anyone working in the helping profession or exposed to other peoples trauma on an ongoing basis.

Supervision can be in person or online (I am based in West Auckland).

For individual and group supervision - I can also be flexible in the hours of work.

I look forward to working with you.
