Sumita Sumita

I am a DAPAANZ-registered clinician with over 15 years of experience working across the health and wellbeing sector. My professional experience includes assessment work, trauma-informed practice, dual diagnosis, and supporting people with complex and diverse needs.

I also bring valuable lived experience from the disability sector, which has strengthened my understanding of advocacy, inclusion, resilience, and the importance of working alongside people in a respectful and empowering way. I have worked collaboratively with Māori organisations and communities, delivering workshops that focus on self-awareness, personal growth, wellbeing, and developing a deeper understanding of ourselves as human beings.

My approach is grounded in connection, reflection, compassion, and curiosity. I believe that meaningful change begins with developing self-awareness and understanding our own experiences, values, strengths, and responses. I also facilitate retreat-based work that provides space for reflection, restoration, personal development, and deeper connection.

My Approach

As a DAPAANZ-registered clinician with 13 years of experience in the dual-diagnosis sector, I take a supportive, reflective, and collaborative approach to supervision. I aim to create a safe and respectful space where supervisees can openly discuss clinical practice, challenges, ethical considerations, and professional development.

My supervision approach integrates evidence-based practice, reflective practice, cultural responsiveness, and a strong focus on client wellbeing and safety. I encourage supervisees to develop confidence, clinical reasoning, self-awareness, and professional accountability while maintaining appropriate boundaries and ethical standards.
