Vicky Finlayson
Kia ora, I whakapapa from Northwestern Europe, through to Australia and Aotearoa. Born in Wellington I have called Aotearoa my home throughout my life and lived on the coast and in cities. I have two adult sons and 3 grandchildren. I work online only as I am currently travelling about NZ with my dog Wesley. There is space for new supervisees including people applying for NZAC full membership.
My Approach
My approach in supervision is one of warmth, encouragement, collaborative, reflective, responsive and practical. I have worked in NGO's over the past 15 years in various roles including Youth Support Worker, Lead Practitioner and Family Support Worker. I have a passion for supporting practitioners so they can continue to do the amazing mahi in Aotearoa, New Zealand. As a supervisor I have a passion for working with mental health and other professionals in maintaining their professional practice, navigating the issues which arise at work and sustaining professional wellbeing. Supervision is a reflective process, supporting people to prevent work place burn out, ethical professional practice and functional aspects of the work. My way of working with supervisees is building relationships which offer practical conversations, exploring how a person can move forward with what ever issues they are facing in their mahi. I am also mindful of practitioners wellbeing and encourage holistic conversations to support the whole person.
