Later this week, Ōtautahi Christchurch will come alive with the energy and passion of 800 youth workers, researchers, community leaders and rangatahi gathering for INVOLVE 2025, the national youth development conference.

With the theme Kotahitanga – Weaving Cohesion in the Youth Development Sector, INVOLVE 2025 is a celebration of the people and kaupapa that support young people to thrive. It shines a light on the powerful, often unsung work being done across the motu to whakamana rangatahi and build stronger, more connected communities.

Youth development is a distinctive field that complements other services by creating spaces where young people can explore identity, grow their confidence, and take positive steps toward their future. While youth workers are active in nearly every part of the country, from schools and marae to community centres and the street, their contributions often fly under the radar.

INVOLVE 2025 offers a unique opportunity to acknowledge and strengthen this work. Across two days, attendees will share ideas, celebrate wins, and look to the future of the sector. From inspiring keynotes to research presentations, wānanga, and live performances, the programme reflects the diversity, creativity and strength of the youth development community.

“INVOLVE showcases the strength, skill and spirit of the youth development sector,” says Jane Zintl, CEO of Ara Taiohi. “It’s a chance for the sector to come together, share what’s working, be inspired, and collectively champion the impact youth workers have on the lives of young people and the future of Aotearoa.”

Hosted by Ara Taiohi, the peak body for youth development in Aotearoa, INVOLVE creates space for connection, learning, and collective action in the youth development sector.

INVOLVE 2025 takes place from 7–8 August at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre.
